The room was silent except for the beeping of life support, a woman in her mid twenties lay motionless in the bed, attached to the life support machine that kept her alive and to a certain degree healthy. Her hands lay beside her, the index finger on her left hand twitched. Her white hair stood out against the dull grey of the pillow that her head rested against. The young woman’s skin was paler than it normally was due to the lack of sunlight she’d been exposed to. Behind her closed eyelids were bright cerulean eyes that should she never wake would never be seen again.
No make up hid the marks left from the attack upon her. A small bruise marked her left cheekbone and a tiny cut upon her bottom lip were the any signs upon her face that she’d been attacked, her others were better hidden, such as the fractured ribs.
A young nurse who’d taken to looking after the white haired woman walked in, she always came in very few hours or so to check on her vital signs and any changes that may have occurred. The nurse, Rose, took the brush that lay on the bed stand and began her usual routine, every morning she would brush her white hair, never allowing it to look messy. From what she’d heard about the woman she hadn’t been vain but she always kept herself presentable, maybe it was because she was a lawyer. She had an image to maintain.
Once Rose finished brushing the woman’s hair she gently washed her face before leaving her side to pick up her charts, comparing them to her present condition. Her history was immaculate, she’d not been to hospital once before now, she hadn’t even been born in a hospital. A knock on the door caught the nurses attention, a police officer stepped inside. “It is about time you came, she’s been here for a week and your only just here?” her tone was cold as she put the charts down.
“We were investigating the murder of her roommate, Kai. Is she aware that her friend was killed?” the officer asked as he looked at what he thought was a sleeping woman.
Rose sighed then shook her head, she hasn’t woken since the attack and as far as I know she hasn’t had a single visitor,” Rose walked out of the room, closely followed by the police officer as they continued to discuss the woman’s condition unaware that even as they spoke the white haired woman was starting to wake up.
Once again the index finger of the former Whammy’s resident left hand twitched. Alessandra Calamity Valentine was waking up.
